Tropical Storm Debby has begun to impact Florida, with severe weather already impacting the west coast from from Naples north to Cedar Key, with the entire Big Bend area from Cedar Key to as far west as Destin expected to begin experiencing sever weather later today. 

As of the 11:00 AM advisory, Tropical Storm Debby is located at 27.0 N, 84.3 W, and is moving NNW at 13 mph, and is expected to strengthen into a Hurricane later today. 

A Tropical Storm Warning extends along the west coast from the Florida Keys to Cedar Key, with a Hurricane Warning issued along the coast from Cedar Key to Alligator point and portions of St. George Island. Additionally, many areas inland from Florida’s west coast are under a Tropical Storm Watch. It is anticipated that Hurricane Debby will make landfall Monday afternoon in the Big Bend, and residents and businesses are encouraged to make preparations now. 

Due to the anticipated impact, our offices in Tallahassee will be closed on Monday, August 5, 2024. This closure includes the SHIP Hotline.
