We are pleased to announce the promotion of Matthew Wyman to the position of Director, Permanent Affordability at the Florida Housing Coalition. Matthew has been an invaluable asset to our organization, and his new role is a testament to his hard work, dedication, and expertise in the field of affordable housing.
Matthew joined the Florida Housing Coalition nearly two years ago as Finance and Operations Director before assuming the role of Community Land Trust Institute (CLTI) Manager. In this role, he managed the premier and nationally recognized CLT Training and Certification program, providing training, technical assistance, and capacity building for community land trusts. His work has been instrumental in setting up new community land trust organizations and lines of business, managing contracts with local governments and nonprofits, and advising on all aspects of CLT operations.
Matthew’s professional background is diverse and impressive. He holds a master’s degree in business management from Franklin University, where he excelled in courses such as Leading Organizational Change and Developing and Implementing Winning Strategies. Prior to the Florida Housing Coalition, Matthew served as Housing Services Manager for Leon County Government, worked as a Real Estate Investment Analyst at Springboard Capital, and served as a County Veterans Service Officer for both Leon County and Franklin County, achieving significant milestones in veteran benefits management.
Matthew’s commitment to permanent affordability and his ability to lead and inspire are evident in his numerous accomplishments. As the Finance and Operations Director for the Coalition, he modernized accounting practices, led the annual budgeting process, and coordinated the annual auditing process, demonstrating his exceptional organizational and financial management skills. His strategic planning, leadership, and implementation of affordable housing programs in Leon County resulted in the organization receiving multiple awards and accolades during his tenure, including being recognized as the top in the state for its Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act and Emergency Rental Assistance Programs.
In his new role as Director, Permanent Affordability, Matthew will continue to champion the cause of permanent affordability, ensuring that the Coalition’s efforts to promote this key housing policy are robust and effective. He will oversee the strategic planning and execution of initiatives aimed at making housing permanently affordable for renters, homebuyers, developers, local governments, and lenders.
Matthew’s passion for efficiency and innovation has been recognized with multiple awards, including the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal for outstanding leadership during his service in the United States Marine Corps. His leadership experience spans various arenas, making him uniquely qualified to lead the Coalition’s efforts in permanent affordability.
