AIRBNB ANNOUNCES DONATION, PARTNERSHIP WITH THE FLORIDA HOUSING COALITION
Airbnb to Work with Florida Housing Coalition to Advance Pro-Housing Reforms as Part of Larger Airbnb Housing Accelerator Launch
TALLAHASSEE – Airbnb is announcing a new donation and partnership with the Florida Housing Coalition, supporting the Coalition’s work expanding and preserving affordable housing through expert training, technical assistance, and policy advocacy.
The donation is part of the Airbnb Housing Accelerator, a new commitment to help build more housing across the country and around the world through direct investment, policy advocacy, and support for organizations working on the ground.
“At the Florida Housing Coalition, we have always believed that partnerships are what unlock many resources for Florida’s housing needs, and that affordable housing is the foundation of stronger communities and a stronger economy. This support helps us reach more communities and help more of them say yes to housing, and we’re looking forward to what this partnership will make possible,” said Ashon Nesbitt, Chief Executive Officer, Florida Housing Coalition.
“In addition to investing directly in building more housing, Airbnb is proud to partner with organizations on the ground, like the Florida Housing Coalition, that are fighting to change the rules to make it possible and more cost effective to build more housing in more places. Through partnerships like this, we can help address local housing challenges while creating stronger, more resilient communities,” said Daniel Hornung, Director of the Airbnb Housing Accelerator.
The Coalition helped pass Florida’s first-ever Yes In God’s Backyard (YIGBY) law, enabling housing on faith-owned land, and is now turning that law into homes through a statewide toolkit, workshops, technical assistance, and a YIGBY networking group. The Coalition also leads state and local advocacy for pro-housing reforms that make it easier to build more homes of more shapes and sizes, direct more public and private resources toward affordable housing production and preservation, and support mission-driven builders and service providers.
