MICHAEL CHANEY is Director of the Catalyst Program, which manages training and technical assistance for the statewide network of SHIP program offices. Michael’s work focuses on housing program administration, enhancing rehabilitation strategies, income eligibility, and leveraging billions of dollars of SHIP with Housing Credits and federal housing programs. Michael worked with state SHIP funders to write a strategy to assist in purchasing a Community Land Trust (CLT) home and co-wrote the Coalition’s Disaster Preparedness Manual. He has assisted the statewide network of SHIP administrators with disaster response to Hurricanes Michael, Irma, Matthew, and Hermine.
Michael has over 25 years of experience providing technical assistance to local government, nonprofit housing professionals, and consumers throughout Florida. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyola University in New Orleans and a Master’s degree in Social Work from Florida State University, where he has served as an adjunct faculty member in the housing department.
