WEBINAR- Hurricane Ian SHIP Response

November 2, 2022 @ 10:00 am - 11:30 am

Please join us for the “Hurricane Ian SHIP Response” webinar, scheduled for Wednesday, November 2 from 10:00 to 11:30 am.  This webinar on SHIP disaster housing recovery will feature two distinct types of training.  First, learn about the deductible assistance program funded with SHIP-DR in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Lee, and Sarasota Counties. Presenters will address key topics, including how to pay an insurance deductible, what documentation to collect, the first mortgage lender’s role in overseeing repairs, and the timeline of assistance. Participants will receive new forms and will learn how to begin implementing deductible assistance.

The second type of training will benefit staff in any SHIP office in the hurricane-impacted area.  Before the webinar, identify the amount of unencumbered money in your SHIP housing trust fund.  Presenters will provide guidance on using this money for disaster assistance.  Learn about intake, the application process, and eligibility determination. SHIP can provide long term housing recovery in a variety of ways, and the webinar will highlight SHIP’s valuable contribution in responding to past disasters.
