Real Estate Tips for an Affordable Mortgage: Purchasing a home is often an intimidating process that leaves prospective homebuyers overwhelmed. The reality is most homebuyers rely on their housing partners such as Realtors, lenders, and title companies to get the job done and trust that they are getting the best deal. This is not always the case as industry standards are not universal. In this training you will learn some trade tips that may lead to lower mortgage payments and possibly decrease a buyer’s out-of-pocket costs when purchasing a home. Topics to be shared include choosing Realtors and lenders, up-front costs, shopping for services, seller concessions, discount points, negotiating homeowner’s insurance, and understanding the Closing Disclosure. This training will give SHIP administrators behind the scenes look at best practices that should be incorporated into their purchase assistance programs.
