This training will guide SHIP staff\, contractors\, and housing professionals through the updates to the Florida Wind Mitigation Inspection Form (OIR-B1-1802) and documentation requirements to maximize wind mitigation credits and insurance savings. Experts from Smart Home America\, National Foundation for Debt Management\, and ClearPath Community Consultants will provide strategies for updating construction management programs\, assessing alignment to IBHS FORTIFIED\, improving coordination across teams\, and effectively communicating benefits to homeowners. In this special webinar with breakout sessions\, participants will gain step-by-step overview\, from pre-inspection and construction scope development to post-installation documentation and communications to ensure credits are applied to policies.  The session will provide new tools and workflows to assist program managers with ensuring positive outcomes and documenting savings.  New assistance will also be offered to interested SHIP programs. DESCRIPTION:Amendment 3: Property Tax Virtual Town Hall\nThis November\, Florida voters will decide on a constitutional amendment that would significantly cut property taxes for homesteaded properties. It would raise the homestead exemption for non-school property taxes from $25\,000 to $150\,000 in 2027 and $250\,000 in 2028 (indexed for inflation)\, for Florida residents who own their homestead as of December 31\, 2026.Here’s why it matters to us: property taxes are a primary source of local general revenue\, the unrestricted operating income counties and cities use to fund services and staff. That revenue often supports the programs that create and preserve affordable housing across Florida.The Housing Action Lab at the Florida Housing Coalition is hosting a virtual town hall on August 11\, 2026\, from 11:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M.E.T. to break down what’s in the proposed amendment\, how it could affect housing affordability and funding for affordable housing programs in Florida\, and to hear from you about how it could affect your work.Bring your questions and perspective.
