SUMMARY:Improving Renter Household Disaster Recovery Outcomes
DESCRIPTION:This training will focus on reducing risks through disaster preparedness and strengthening local plans. A substantial body of research shows that disaster recovery aid favors homeowners\, often neglecting the immediate and long-term needs of renters. This webinar will share insights from a new HUD-funded disaster recovery research initiative implemented by UCF\, UF\, BDO (formerly HORNE)\, and the Florida Housing Coalition. The researchers identified systemic program gaps and impacts to renter households across multiple disasters. Presenters will discuss the findings and recommendations for local program and policy changes to improve disaster preparedness\, response\, and long-term recovery for renters and rental property owners.
