Community Land TrustFlorida Nonprofit Housing Advocates NetworkIt’s the one year anniversary of the Florida Nonprofit Housing Advocates Network (FNHAN) and the 11 year anniversary of the Florida CLT Institute. Let’s celebrate our successes, including repeal of the cap on Sad owski Trust funds; removal of the five deal requirement for proving up experience for FHFC programs; and enactment of several property tax relief provisions, including those for community land trusts.

We will feature a film presentation from FNHAN member, Suzanne Cabrera, Executive Director of Housing Leadership Council of Palm Beach, showcasing her use of the Community Land Trust model to implement the Neighborhood Stabilization Program in Lake Worth.

What’s next? As funds for affordable housing are reduced at the federal, state and local level, we need to ensure that all available funds are used and used wisely. We will discuss next steps for addressing what nonprofit advocates can do to better access existing funds such as CDBG, HOME, HOME CHDO monies, and donated lands for affordable housing. This discussion includes public records law advise from our legal services members, and what you need to have in place at the local level to ensure your organization can take advantage of all opportunities.

The Caucus is a time to bring up ideas to share and ask questions to your colleagues, such as:

* Trouble finding loans for community land trust properties?
* Inclusionary housing policies under fire?
* NIMBY issues? * Is anyone doing…?

Come join us. The Florida Nonprofit Advocates Network and the Florida Community Land Trust Institute evolve in response to your needs, concerns and participation.
